Information Technology

Canterbury is known as a centre for information technology and communications and Lincoln Ventures has a small but very active role in these activities.  We understand the requirements of commercial software applications.  For example, we employ professional software engineers who work alongside our research engineers and scientists.

We produce and distribute Irricad, a world leading CAD package aimed at the design of irrigation systems.

A comprehensive, whole farm model, FarmSim,  aimed at quantifying the discharge of contaminants to groundwaters is under development.  This provides an input for AquiferSim, a GIS based regional scale model which tracks the concentrations of contaminants in groundwater systems.  These models are designed for rapid calculation, so that "what-if" questions can be addressed.

Our image processing team develops the hardware and software for many field applications, usually based upon their Imbada product.

Finally, over the past few years we have built up a capability in grid computing and e-Research.
